Vocal Empowerment
Step into Your Moxie® Speak Up and Influence
Vocal Empowerment Program for Teams and Individuals
Have you ever had a situation where a team member came to you after a company debacle and said, “I thought that might happen, but I was afraid to speak up.” As a leader, your think, “you could’ve saved the company a lot of money if you had just said something!” The same story plays out across the corporate landscape. In fact, the issue of employees not speaking up is systemic. An MIT Study from 2020 of 6,000 Microsoft employees found that less than 50% of them spoke up to their managers. In fact, 17.5% of employees surveyed said they never spoke up.
The most successful corporations today work diligently to build a diverse workforce. How beneficial are those diverse perspectives and experiences, though, if your company fosters a culture of silence? Speaking up for what you believe in doesn’t come naturally to many employees. And yet, there’s so much at stake if your team is hardwired to stay silent. Innovation suffers, employees feel stifled, and the status quo remains intact.
When employees feel empowered to voice their concerns and opinions, your organization is more likely to thrive. So how do we encourage employees to be proactive? Leadership is key. The employee’s supervisor must encourage employees to share their opinions and not reprimand them for doing so. NR Strategic Consulting addresses this in our Leadership Development work.
But encouraging employees to speak up is not just the job of your leaders. Your team members need to learn how to speak up for what they believe and advocate for innovative ideas. They need a vocal empowerment program.
What is a Vocal Empowerment Program?
In Step into Your Moxie® Speak Up and Influence, participants will strengthen their inner and outer voice so that they can speak up for themselves and the ideas and issues that matter most to your company. Through a mix of coaching, training, role play, and small and full group conversation, participants will develop the mindset, skill set, and habits to boost their communication confidence so they can speak with power and impact and move people to take action whenever they speak. By the end of this experience, participants will be able to:
Reframe diminishing self-talk so that it supports rather than undermines communication confidence
Harness a “Yes And” attitude and play nicely with feelings that come up when presenting ideas and navigating uncomfortable situations
Minimize vocalized thinking and amplify their speaking presence to increase credibility, likeability, and trust
Call people to take action on ideas in low and high stakes speaking situations (i.e., team meetings, project pitches, or presentations)
Address common pain points and personal motivators that get in the way of people taking action
Articulate their value and go after visibility opportunities that position them/your company as thought leaders
How Does the Program Work?
Step into Your Moxie® Speak Up and Influence is delivered as a 1-Day or 4-week experience with you and your team. The workshops are delivered in person. The 4-week experience takes place in two-hour meetings once a week for four weeks. The workshops are highly interactive. Participants are not told how to speak up. Instead, they participate in their own growth, developing the mindset, behaviors, and habits to speak up and influence consistently.
